HANZAI

On Friday November 28th 2025 Crimeapple released his latest album entitled “HANZAI”. I had the opportunity to illustrate both the cover art for its first single “ZIPFILE” and the album art itself. However, they are both one and the same. Zipfile’s art was a preliminary sketch of the idea that Crimeapple had given me inspired from his recent visit to Japan. I sketched it quickly and loosely within minutes and texted him the image that would later become the single cover art. The finished work in color would be the album art. All of this was Crime’s idea from the beginning. I’m flattered that anyone would want to use my sketches as a rollout to an album, but it seemed to work. The sketch and finished work raw, colorful and gritty much like the Hanzai’s production and lyricism. The album does not disappoint. This would be the third project I have worked with Crimeapple on and hopefully not the last. The artwork was done digitally using Procreate on the iPad.
